Outrunning the Storm

Cloudy skies seen from our dock at Captiva Island in the morning.

"Small craft warnings" not predicted until after noon and we only had 3 to 4 hours run to Venice on the outside in the Gulf.
This pic, (lifted from the net) was what we saw as we came out of Red Fish Pass in to the Gulf.  After leaving Captiva, Red Fish is a short cut to take, rather than running all the way to Bocco Grande Pass.  The storm was comming out of the south west on the left,  and we were going north to Venice Fla.

Blue skies ahead and dark behind us!  Venice and the Crows Nest Marina was beautiful, warm and summy when we arrived.  The wind, rain and waves caught up with us after we had a walk on the beach and were back on board Great Escape.  Crows Nest Marina casual restaurant with view in Venice inlet out windows.
